Zyxel P-660R Modem Setup

WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

  • Your Zyxel P-660R modem/router, plugged in and powered on
  • A computer, tablet, phone, or other device with internet browsing software installed – Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, are typical examples
  • A connection between your device and the Zyxel P-660R - We recommend doing this by connecting an Ethernet cord from your device to one of the LAN ports on the back of the Zyxel P-660R.

 Routed Mode Setup

Please note: We recommend that you are directly connected from your computer to your modem during the setup

  1. Navigate to the modem's web interface. (192.168.1.1)
  2. You must erase the default password and replace it with 1234(It will look like the password has already been entered but this must be changed or you wont be able to configure the modem)
  3. Click on the Network link. (Left hand side of page)
  4. Click on the WAN link. (Left hand side of page)
  5. Set the Modulation field to Multi Mode.
  6. Set the Mode field to Routing.
  7. Set the Encapsulation field to PPPoE.
  8. Set the User Name field to your DSL username.
  9. Set the Password field to your DSL password.
  10. Set the Multiplexing field to LLC
  11. Set the Virtual Circuit ID fields
    • ON/QC: 0 and 35
    • AB/BC: 0 and 33
    • Eastern Provinces: Set as directed by TekSavvy
  12. Set IP Address to Obtain an IP Address Automatically.
  13. Set all of the DNS server fields to Obtain From ISP unless the you wish to use your own preferred DNS servers.
  14. Set the Connection to Nailed-Up Connection(This leaves the connection running at all times for instant access)
  15. Click the Apply button.

Bridged Mode Setup

Please note: We recommend that you are directly connected from your computer to your modem during the setup.

  1. Navigate to the modem's web interface. (192.168.1.1)
  2. You must type in the default password. (It will look like the password has already been entered but this must be changed or you wont be able to configure the modem) Password is 1234
  3. Click on the Network (Left hand side of page)
  4. Click on the WAN (Left hand side of page) 
  5. Set the Modulationfield to Multi Mode
  6. Set the Modefield to Bridge
  7. Set the Encapsulation field to RFC 1483.
  8. Set the Multiplexing field to LLC 
  9. Set the Virtual Circuit ID fields
    • ON/QC: 0 and 35
    • AB/BC: 0 and 33
    • Eastern Provinces: Set as directed by TekSavvy
  10. Set all of the DNS server fields to User Defined and 0.0.0.0 unless you wish to select a specific DNS.  
  11. Click the Apply

You can now connect your wireless router and set it up for a PPPOE connection, using the username and password provided by Teksavvy. Please follow this link to the most popular router models.
