TP-Link TD-8816 - Setup

Please Note: We recommend that you are directly connected from your computer to your modem during the setup

Routed Setup

  1. Type 192.168.1.1 into any web browser (Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera).
    • NOTE: Default username and password are admin.
  2. Click on Quick Start and click on Run Wizard.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click on your appropriate time zone. Click Next.
  5. Choose PPPoE/PPPoA. Click Next.
  6. Enter your DSL username and DSL password.  
  7. Set the VPI/VCI to the appropriate settings for your region as indicated below
    • ON/QC: 0 and 35
    • AB/BC: 0 and 33
    • Eastern Provinces: Set as directed by TekSavvy
  8. Set Connection Type to PPPoE LLC. Click Next.
  9. Quick Start is complete.  Click Next to finish.  
  10. Click Close.

 


Bridged Setup

  1. Type 192.168.1.1 into any web browser (Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera).
    • NOTE: Default username and password are admin.
  2. Click on Quick Start and click on Run Wizard.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click on your appropriate time zone. Click Next.
  5. Choose Bridge. Click Next.
  6. Set the VPI/VCI to the appropriate settings for your region as indicated below
    • ON/QC: 0 and 35
    • AB/BC: 0 and 33
    • Eastern Provinces: Set as directed by TekSavvy
  7. Connection Type should be set to 1483 Bridged IP LLC. Click Next.
  8. Quick Start is complete. Click Next to finish.  
  9. Click Close.

You can now connect your wireless router and set it up for a PPPOE connection, using the username and password provided by TekSavvy. Please follow this link to the most popular router models.
