Speedtouch 516/546 - Setup

Please Note: We recommend that you are directly connected from your computer to your modem during the setup

 Routed Mode Setup

  1. Open a web browser and go to the address http://192.168.1.254.
  2. Click on the SpeedTouch button, at the left.
  3. Click the Set Up link. (Found below Pick a task...)
  4. Click Next at the Welcome page.
  5. Select Routed PPP then click Next.
  6. Set the VPI/VCI dropdown menu to the appropriate setting as indicated below:
    • ON/QC: 0.35
    • AB/BC: 0.33
    • Eastern Provinces: Set as directed by TekSavvy
  7. Cilck Next.
  8. Set the Connection Type to PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE).
  9. Click Next.
  10. Enter your DSL login username into the User Name field. 
  11. Enter your DSL login password into the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  12. Click Next.
  13. At the Access Control page, enter your desired administrative username and password. We recommend leaving it as is for ease of use, but you may choose to change it. Please ensure you write it down and save it as we do not keep this on file.
  14. Click Start. (The configuration process could take up to a minute)
  15. Click Finish.

Bridged Mode Setup

  1. Open a web browser and go to the address http://192.168.1.254.
  2. Click on the SpeedTouch button, at the left.
  3. Click the Set Up link. (Found below Pick a task...)
  4. Click Next at the Welcome page.
  5. Select Bridge then click Next.
  6. Set the VPI/VCI dropdown menu to the appropriate setting as indicated below:
    • ON/QC: 0.35
    • AB/BC: 0.33
    • Eastern Provinces: Set as directed by TekSavvy
  7. Click Next.
  8. Set the DHCP Server check box as desired:
    • Check if you intend to connect a computer directly to the modem
    • Uncheck if you intend to use a router
  9. At the Access Control page, enter your desired administrative username and password. We recommend leaving it as is for ease of use, but you may choose to change it. Please ensure you write it down and save it as we do not keep this on file.
  10. Click Start(The configuration process could take up to a minute)
  11. Click Finish.

You can now connect your wireless router and set it up for a PPPOE connection, using the username and password provided by Teksavvy. Please follow this link to the most popular router models.
