Setup Your Email in Mac Mail

  1. Open Mac Mail.
  2. Click Mail, then Preferences. Click Accounts.
  3. Click the plus (+) sign at the bottom.
  4. Under Full Name, enter the name as you’d like it to appear on your outgoing email.
  5. Under Email Address, enter your email address.
  6. Enter your password. Click Continue.
  7. Set Account Type to POP.
  8. Set your Incoming Mail Server to the appropriate server (see note below).
  9. Your username is your complete email address.
  10. Enter your password again. Click Continue.
  11. Under Incoming Mail Security leave Use Secure Socket Layers (SSL) unchecked.
  12. Authentication type will be Password. Click Continue.
  13. Set your Outgoing Mail Server to the appropriate server (see note below).
  14. Do not check Use Authentication, except in cases where you are sending email through another ISP’s server, in which case you will need to verify those settings. Click Continue.
  15. Under Incoming Mail Security leave Use Secure Socket Layers (SSL) unchecked.
  16. Authentication Type will be Password. Click Create.

Servers:

  • Emails ending in teksavvy.com: mail.teksavvy.com (POP3) and smtp.teksavvy.com (SMTP).
  • If you wish to use your @teksavvy.com email address over an Internet connection other than TekSavvy (Rogers, Bell, on your iPad/smartphone, etc.), the Outgoing Server should be out.teksavvy.com, and the outgoing email port will need to be changed from port 25 to port 1025.
