SmartRG 505N: Setup your wireless network

  1. Open a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.1
  2. Click on the Basic Configuration link. (Top right corner)
  3. Click on the Wireless link.
  4. Check the Enable Wireless box.
  5. Set the SSID to your desired wireless network name. This name will show up when you search for wireless networks.
  6. Click Apply/Save
  7. Click on the Security link.
  8. Select the SSID name created in step 5.
  9. Select your desired Network Authentication method.
    • Mixed WPA/WPA2 -PSK is good for backwards compatibility with older devices but has some security holes.
    • WPA2 -PSK is the most secure option but may not work with older devices.
    • Open is completely unsecure and is NOT recommended.
    • Shared is commonly known as WEP and can be broken in seconds using the correct tools. It is not recommended.
    • 802.1x, WPA, and WPA2 require radius servers and as such are not generally suitable for home use. (Note: PSK versions do NOT require a companion server and are suitable for home use)
  10. Uncheck the Use Base MAC Address as WPA/WAPI Passphrase option
  11. Enter your desired WPA/WAPI passphrase (or Network Key if Shared was selected), this will be your wireless password.
  12. Click Apply/Save.
