TekSavvy Solutions Inc is based out of Chatham, Ontario and our main equipment is located in Toronto, Ontario. This is why many of our IP addresses geolocate to either Chatham or Toronto, depending on the backbone on which your services run. Unfortunately, we are unable to push an IP that is regionally local to you to due to this technical backbone.
What exactly is IP Geolocation?
IP Geolocation is the mapping of IP addresses of internet-connected devices to their geographic location in the real world. According to online geolocation sources, IP geolocation is approximately 99% accurate in determining the country of an IP address, between 50% and 80% accurate in determining the geographic region such as province, but is inaccurate at determining the city, postal code, or other more precise location information.
What do I do if a site, app or stream is blocking me?
IP geolocation issues, including blocking of access to websites/services/streams and the black-out of sports events - cannot be resolved by TekSavvy. The website/service/app is using less-than-accurate data to decide a customer’s location and change access accordingly. You would have to reach out to the support team of that company. You will have to give them your IP address and ask them to ‘White List’ it to get around the issue.
If the services work after that, then stop working, you might have been given a new IP address and will need to contact them again.
Does TekSavvy filter any sites?
Yes – we are ordered to block certain sites and IP addresses. You can see full details under our policies section.
